I have spent my entire career of 30+ years in the accounting and business management fields, so I have substantial experience with a variety of businesses from both the internal and external viewpoints. I have recently obtained the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
After graduating from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN with a B.A. in Economics in 1983, I spent the first few years of my career working for a pair of local accounting firms in the Indianapolis area, serving small business and individual clients. During that time, I passed the CPA exam and first became a licensed CPA.
In 1987, my wife and I moved to Florida, where I joined what is now one of the Big 4 international accounting and professional services firms. After moving to Florida, I completed the additional requirements to become licensed as a CPA in Florida. For the first half of my 20+ years at that firm, I worked as an auditor, conducting audits of small and mid-size businesses. The second half of my time there, I served in a variety of internal management positions and worked as a recruiter, human resources manager, administrative manager and chief of staff to the managing partner of the regional audit practice.
Between the time I left that firm and started my own practice, I served as the chief operating officer of a mid-sized accounting firm and the controller of a law firm.
Activities I enjoy are cycling, running, kayaking, boating, water skiing, fishing, snow skiing, caring for our pets and attending the Indianapolis 500 and other IndyCar races. I also follow most sports to varying degrees.
My past and present community activities and affiliations are as follows.
